University Circle. Small square becomes booming circle.

More than 200 years ago, Nathanial Doan settled here with his family and started what would become a world-class center of innovation in education, arts, and culture. At the end of the 19th century, Doan's Corners was renamed University Circle after Case Western Reserve University was built in the heart of this small community, near a circular street intersection.

Where culture abounds.

More than three million visitors travel to University Circle each year to experience this unique concentration of institutions. With 15 cultural organizations and more than 20 restaurants, this Circle is not meant to be taken lightly, so you'll want to start early. Begin then, at Arabica Coffee & Tea. Just down the street, you'll end up "across the world" in Cleveland Botanical Garden's Spiny Desert of Madagascar or the Cloud Forest of Costa Rica. Continue on down the road to the Cleveland Museum of Art, one of the top five art museums in the country. Strolling the streets, you may find yourself at Mi Pueblo, a Mexican eatery that serves its burritos big and bold – or just big, for you timid types.

After a filling meal, take in a show at the Cleveland Cinematheque, where you can even catch work done by Cleveland Institute of Art students. For live entertainment, head over to the Barking Spider for music from local bands; or, for a more sophisticated sound, make your way to Severance Hall, home of the Cleveland Orchestra. While you're in the area, relax by Wade Lagoon. Finally, round out your trip with a sensual dinner at Sergio's and a discussion about how a long day can fly by.

This One-Pass Trip to University Circle is your ticket to experiencing a world-class cultural center right here in Cleveland. Not even Nathanial Doan could have imagined it.
